Index > Announcements > Memberlist with PM support
The upcoming TYPOlight version 2.6.2 will include another core extension called "memberlist". It allows members to define public profiles which can be viewed by others. The module also supports sending personal messages (depending on the privacy settings). I have set up the beta version on typolight.org to show you how to use the module.
Define your public profile

On the "my personal data" page, you will find a new group called "public profile" where you can choose the fields that will be publicly viewable. On typolight.org, the memberlist (and thus your data) is only visible to logged in members.

List all members
After you have logged in, you will find an additional page called "Memberlist" in the drop-down menu. The module works very similar to the listing module.

I have also added profile links to the forum, so you can send personal messages without browsing the memberlist first.

The memberlist extension will be included in version 2.6.2.

Hi Leo,
is it possible to extend the personal profile also with instant messenger data for the biggest IM programs like MSN, Skype, ICQ or similar? Sometimes it is better and faster to talk over these possibilities...
Thanks in advance.

I think those adjustments can be done via DCA & SQL (just extend tl_user). But a module to do this automacally would be nice, too

This is a really great module, thanks a heap!
One suggestion:
When filtering by country, one has to enter the country code, not the country name as displayed in the list ("ch" instead of "Switzerland" for example.) This is not obvious to site visitors and also people may not know the country code by heart. So maybe you could also display the 2-character country code in the list.

The listing module acutally has the same problem (see partner listing). You can neither search for a country name, nor sort by the country column (it will be sorted by ISO code internally). There is not yet a good solution

I just thought adding the ISO code to the list would make all that easier to understand for users:

Leo,
Memberlist with PM support is great! I just noticed one minor thing. When going to Profile > My personal data, there is a checkbox in Public fields (near the bottom) for "State". I do not see a textbox for State in the Address details section of the form, though.

The list shows all viewable tl_member fields. It is true that you cannot edit the state field in the front end, but you surely can in the back end (we are not using the state field on typolight.org, though).
