Index > Feature request > delete user account
Hey,
it would be great to have the possibility for the user to delete his account once and for all. This could be displayed in the personal data module. When creating this module the admin can decide whether to give the users this option.
If the user wishes to delete his account he has to enter his current password and/or press the link in a confirmation email. If done so the user gets delete as well as the personal folder with all is containing files.
I hope you find this idea useful as well.
Bye
David

I would also like this feature, so that there are no inactive users in the backend.
Also I think people who no longer wish to be a user of the site would feel better knowing all their personal data is deleted - plus would it would free up usernames to be reused.

If accounts are deleted, either by the member or the admin, it might also be good to delete the "home directory " and the contents. If an member deletes the account, the folder should probably be deleted. If an admin deletes the account, maybe there could be a pop-up asking if their folder / files should be deleted.

I also like this idea and agree. One thing I was thinking that an account could delete itself if it isn't activated in 60 days or something. That way I don't have to go through and delete them. Also, it might be helpful to have it be automatically deleted after 1 year of inactivity or something.

This sounds very good.. why not 1 year of inactivity and non-activated accounts to be deleted automaticly, or like a prune function?

I too like the idea.
Perhaps next to New Members there could be a "Delete Orphaned Home Directories" button.
This would potentially clear a lot of wasted disc space.
I guess it would need to check against deleted member names and match the folder names.
