At the moment it seems that the news archive and archive menu only support the display of news per month. If there are only few news per year it makes a poor impression. In this case it'd be good to display news for the whole year.

i.e. in addition to archive.html?month=200802
also archive.html?year=2008 should be possible,
and the year in the menu should be linked.

I agree, the option as to how the archive displays news would be appreciated.

Example:
Group News by --
- Year
- Year/Quarter
- Year/Month
- Year/Quarter/Month
- Year/Quarter/Month/Day
- Year/Month/Day

The last two options would only be for extremely prolific sites with many posts per day.

While most would choose the "Year" and "Year/Month" options, the "Quarter" options would be awesome for businesses, as they function in financial "Quarters".

What do you think?

would it not be a good idea to combine all related feature request posts. I just think it would be easier for Leo & team to see all our requests, if they are under one place :-)

Hi,

I'm working on moving our company's site from static html pages to TYPOlight. I just love this CMS. We don't publish a lot of news, so it would be visually better showing only years in the news archive menu instead of months. How can I accomplish that? I searched the forum and googled without any luck.
