It can be very frustrating when an installation does not go smoothly. Following these suggestions will assist in sorting through simple problems and will aid in your issues being resolved quicker.

1. Make sure that your web server completely meets the system requirements.
2. Download and run the "System check tool" found on this page.
3. See if your issues have been addressed by the TYPOlight FAQ page.
4. Search the forum for the error message (or a small segment of it) to see if a resolution already exists.

If you still aren't able to solve your installation woes, please create a new topic or continue in a discussion that relates to the issues you are having. It is important to provide the following information:

1. Web server information, including php version, mysql version, etc.
2. A link to the server's phpinfo, if available and relevant
3. The specific error message(s) that you are receiving
4. A detailed description of what happened leading up to the problems & what you think may be causing them

We're all happy to assist with installation issues and following these suggestions will help us help you. :D

Hi Ben etc

I am completely new to TYPOlight and am struggling to set it up in my 1and1 hosting account.

I do quite a bit of web design, but am not good at programming or anything complicated.

So far I have managed to add the necessary .htaccess file to upgrade my PHP from 4 to 5 and have got the following two results for my checks:

PHP CHECK: http://www.jelfon.com/tl/check_info.php

TYPOlight CHECK: http://www.jelfon.com/tl/typolight-check.php

I have now re-installed the main extracted file to:

http://www.jelfon.com/tl/typolight/install.php

and it's ready to proceed with the password "********"

I manage to change the password, but when I go to create an Encryption key, the page changes to basic unformatted html - see image attached. There is a warning at the top that reads: Warning: mysql_error(): etc... (see image attached)

Basically, I get stuck at the database section. I have created a MySQL database in my account and am including an image with all the info on it - but as I have never made a database before I'm not sure whether or not there is more to it! I realise I am giving you my database password and username etc. If I manage to understand how to set it all up properly then I'll start again from scratch, just to be sure that my site is secure.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Joe

Joe,

I entered the database variables that you provided and was able to complete the installation without problems. I will remove the sensitive info from your last post and send you and e-mail with your new installation password and admin login details.
