Contao Open Source CMS Team

The Contao team has first been introduced at the user meeting in Wuerzburg, 2008. It was made up of some very commited people who had continuously been supporting the project since its first release in 2006 and until today dedicate a lot of their time to developing Contao, promoting the project, writing documentation, recording screencasts and looking after the community. Besides the official team, there are more than 100 additional developers, translators and other contributors who make Contao what it is today.

Leo, a 33-year-old programmer from Munich, Germany is the founder and main developer of Contao. Inspired by the need for a robust yet simple CMS to offer his clients, and dissatisfied with the open source offerings, he decided to create Contao in 2004. He actively develops the CMS in addition to operating his web hosting and software development business. When he is not elbow deep in code, Leo likes to rock out with his guitar and play in local clubs.

Ben is a 31-year-old web designer from Atlanta, Georgia and the owner of Emergent Media Group. He discovered Contao in November of 2006 and was immediately drawn to its features and flexibility. He supports it with the goal of mutual success for the system, the developers and the user-base and he has launched over 25 websites that use Contao. When not creating websites, Ben overworks his espresso machine, wins at bocce and tries to avoid trouble.

Clemens is a 34-year-old graphic designer by trade, running his own design studio in London, UK, since 2001. He has worked with Contao since the very first release and has built over 20 websites (and counting) using the spectacular CMS. His portfolio also includes the new Contao showroom at www.typolight.co.uk. When Clemens is not in his office, he is either on a plane or enjoying a beer with locals in a pub.

Cyril graduated in Arts and Technologies in 1999. Today he works as a web designer and web developer in a services company in Valence (France). Before Contao, he used a lot of Flash/Actionscript, XML/XSLT and Asp.net/C# and only little PHP. Now he works with Contao and PHP all the time ;) In February 2007, he started to translate Contao into French and in 2008, he launched contao.fr - a Contao platform for French-speaking people. Cyril likes to play heavy rock with his electrical guitar after a hard day at work.

Fabian is a 35-year-old communications expert from Wiesbaden, Germany. Together with a partner he runs his own business specialising in public relations and internet communications. Fabian discovered Contao in August 2007 and decided to support the project because he believes in the community spirit of open source. His agency has completed more than 30 Contao projects so far.

Nina is a commited web designer, running her own design studio in Berlin. She has actively followed the progress of Contao since the summer of 2007 and has launched over 20 Contao websites so far. Because she loves working with well-documented software, she has released an editor's manual for Contao (spring 2008). Her new project is the creation of a "perfect" Contao administration manual.

Peter graduated 1980 as engineer for electronics and computer since at the Neu Technikum Buchs in Switzerland. After several years in research and industry, he started his own business of software development 1990 where he creates corporate solutions for logistics and warehouse management. He found Contao in summer 2007, when he decided to relaunch the website for the second major release of the BPS standard software which is currently under development. Peter has contributed several Contao extensions such as forum/helpdesk, the Extension Repository and different utility modules.

Thomas graduated as an industrial designer in the mid 90s. Nowadays, the 43-year old runs his own design company in Stuttgart and works for a range of national and international clients. He teaches media competence, digital image processing and presentation techniques at the State Academy for Art and Design, Stuttgart. He discovered Contao in 2006, in search of a powerful CMS that is reliable and easy to use. He has actively supported Contao ever since and also wrote the book "Mit Contao Websites erfolgreich gestalten". When he is not indulging in espresso, he enjoys being out and about with his camera and dreaming of the early flying machines.
